Karlie Samuelson Signing with Mystics

Karlie Samuelson is moving east, signing an agreement with the Washington Mystics, per Kareem Copeland of the Washington Post. The Next’s Jenn Hatfield followed up to say it’s a two-year protected contract for the veteran.

Samuelson, who most recently played with the Los Angeles Sparks, is coming off a year of career-high production, with her 7.7 points per game (PPG) more than doubling any other campaign during her five-year career. While starting 23 games, she also took a leap in efficiency, compiling 46.3/42.3/94.1 splits, with that three-point percentage ranking sixth in the W last year.

In addition to the Los Angeles Sparks, Samuelson has also played for the Dallas Wings, Seattle Storm, and Phoenix Mercury. She’s averaged 4.5 PPG across 76 games, but it’s her long range shooting that will provide the most help to a Washington team that was middle of the pack from the perimeter in 2023.
