Shey Peddy Agrees to Deal with Connecticut

Shey Peddy has signed a training camp deal with the Connecticut Sun, as first reported by Khristina Williams of Girls Talk Sports TV

Peddy, 35, has only played for two teams in her five-year career—the Washington Mystics and, most recently, the Phoenix Mercury. Drafted in 2012 by the Chicago Sky and subsequently waived by the club, Peddy went through several short-term, seven-day contracts with the Mystics between 2019 and 2020, officially making her debut in the league seven years after being drafted. In 2020, she was waived for the final time by the Mystics and signed two seven-day contracts with the Mercury before being signed for the rest of the year with them that same year. In 2021, 2022, and 2023, Peddy signed training camp contracts with Phoenix, acting as a backup guard for the team.

During the 2023 season, Peddy averaged 5.2 points per game (PPG), along with 1.8 assists per game (APG), and 1.8 rebounds per game (RPG) in 15.8 minutes per game (MPG) across 18 games played. In her career, Peddy has averaged 6.0 PPG, 1.1 steals per game (SPG), 2.3 APG, and 2.4 RPG.

Despite not getting many opportunities last season unless in case of injury, Peddy clearly still has something to offer a team that is in need of bolstering its bench and, specifically, its guard depth. In Connecticut, she gets a chance to bolster a unit in transition, as the Sun’s guard rotation will look very different from last season. The team has already added Rachel Banham, Moriah Jefferson and Tiffany Mitchell earlier in the offseason.
