Skylar Diggins-Smith Signs Two-Year Deal with Seattle Storm

Skylar Diggins-Smith, perhaps the most coveted free agent in this year’s class, has signed a two-year deal with the Seattle Storm, per The Next’s Howard Megdal.

Diggins-Smith, who sat out the 2023 season on maternity leave, who turns 34 in August, will look to return to the All-WNBA form that she was in when we last saw her step on the court.

Diggins-Smith has the ability to impact the game in many ways, notably with her ability to score and distribute. But she can also impact the game defensively, showcasing her two-way capabilities at the point guard spot. The last time we saw Diggins-Smith in 2022, she averaged 19.7 points per game, 5.5 assists per game, 4.0 rebounds per game, 1.5 steals per game, and 1.0 blocks per game over 30 contests while shooting 42.9 percent from the field and 29.6 percent from three.

A motivated Diggins-Smith is a dangerous one, and it’s safe to say she will be as motivated as ever in 2024 as she gets a fresh start after a bitter ending to her time in Phoenix. She’ll pair in the backcourt with Jewell Loyd, last year’s leading scorer, creating one of the most formidable guard duos in the WNBA.
