Jordin Canada, along with the 12th overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft, was traded to the Atlanta Dream for point guard Aari McDonald and the eighth overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft.
Canada was cored by the Los Angeles Sparks for her career year in 2023, during which she was arguably the best on-ball defender in the league and finished as a first-team All-Defensive player. She scored a career-high 13.3 points per game (PPG) on just over 40.0 percent shooting from the floor. Canada dished out a career-high 6.0 assists per game (APG) while tying her career high with 2.3 steals per game (SPG).
Canada joins a Dream squad that features Rhyne Howard, Allisha Gray, Cheyenne Parker, and recently acquired Aerial Powers who joins the team on a one-year deal. The Dream have lacked a consistent facilitator and Canada will step right in and provide offensive stewardship and allow Howard and Gray to both play off-ball, which is better suited to their strengths. Additionally, Canada’s on-ball defense has been well documented, something that will appeal to head coach Tanisha Wright.
For her career, Canada is averaging 8.8 PPG, 4.7 APG, and 1.5 SPG.

As for the Sparks, they receive McDonald, entering her fourth year in the league out of Arizona. The 25-year-old has been an average contributor for the Dream, averaging 7.9 PPG and 3.0 APG on 40.2 percent shooting. The Sparks will likely be hoping she can facilitate what will assuredly be a young squad with three first-round picks in the upcoming draft. McDonald was a first-team member of the All-Rookie team back in 2021.
For her career, McDonald is averaging 8.6 PPG, 2.5 APG, and 1.0 steals per game (SPG) on 38.5 percent shooting.
