Breakout Star Naz Hillmon Re-Signs with Atlanta Dream

Naz Hillmon

The Atlanta Dream re-signed forward Naz Hillmon to a three-year deal, according to ESPN’s Kendra Andrews, as part of a broader effort that also includes bringing back All-Star guards Allisha Gray, and Rhyne Howard.

Having her college jersey retired at Michigan was the cherry on top of a career year for Naz Hillmon. She won an Unrivaled title, a 3×3 gold medal, and was named the Sixth Player of the Year in the WNBA. To say that it was a breakout season would be the understatement of the century.

Hillmon averaged a career-high 8.6 points and 6.2 rebounds per game for the Dream, as she eventually surpassed Brittney Griner in the Dream’s starting lineup. Entering the season, Hillmon had six career three-point attempts. Last year with the Dream, she went 53-of-165 (32.1 percent), turning into a three-point threat.

Hillmon has gone from a second-round pick who played a minor role to being a standout player showing that she doesn’t just belong in the WNBA, but she should be a permanent fixture in a starting lineup for years to come.
