Brittney Griner Signs with Connecticut Sun on Seven-Figure Deal

Brittney Griner

10-time All-Star Brittney Griner is heading to the Connecticut Sun, signing a seven-figure deal, sources confirmed to ESPN.

Brittney Griner spent her first 12 seasons in the WNBA in Phoenix. In 2025, she took her talents to Atlanta. While Griner isn’t the star player that she was before, she still can have a big role in the WNBA.

Last year, Griner opened as the starting center for the Dream, pairing her experience with Brionna Jones’ to make up a big duo for the Dream on the blocks. Eventually, Griner moved to the bench after Naz Hillmon broke out in a big way for the Dream. Still, Griner showed the ability to be a rim protector for the Dream, averaging more than a block per game to keep her 13-year streak intact.

Another aspect of Griner’s game that grew was her willingness to step outside of the block and expand her mid-range and three-point game. Griner is a great veteran presence to have on a team, as she took the young players on the Dream last year – especially Te-Hina Paopao under her wings.
