Sophie Cunningham Re-Signs with Indiana Fever

Sophie Cunningham

Sophie Cunningham isn’t going anywhere. In a common trend among Indiana Fever free agents this offseason, Cunningham is returning to Indiana after reportedly re-signing with the Fever. ESPN’s Alexa Philippou first broke the news, adding it’s a one-year deal for Cunningham.

Cunningham spent her first season outside of Phoenix in 2025, playing her seventh WNBA season with the Indiana Fever after playing the first six years of her career with the Phoenix Mercury. Cunningham arrived in Indiana last offseason as part of a four-team trade between Phoenix, Indiana, Connecticut, and Dallas.

Last summer, Cunningham appeared in 30 games, starting in 13 of those contests before suffering a season-ending torn right MCL in August. In her time on the court, Cunningham averaged 8.6 PPG, 3.5 RPG, 1.2 APG, and 1.0 SPG over 25.2 MPG. She finished shooting 46.9 percent from the field and 43.2 percent from deep.

Cunningham, entering her eighth season at the age of 29, will be a key contributor in 2026 with her two-way skillset and her capability to boost her squad offensively and from deep. Expect another strong campaign from Cunningham this summer as Indiana gets the gang back together for another run.
