Sun, Wings Complete Trade Centered Around Diamond Miller

As we prepare to find out which players will be signing where as free agents, some teams aren’t waiting around by hitting the trade market.

The Connecticut Sun and Dallas Wings are the latest pair of teams to come together on a trade, announcing Thursday they have completed a trade centered around former No. 2 pick Diamond Miller. In the deal, Dallas is sending Miller to Connecticut in a straight-up trade that will return Rayah Marshall to the Wings.

Miller, who was selected by the Minnesota Lynx second overall in the 2023 WNBA Draft, will be heading to her third team in less than two seasons as she heads to the Sun. Miller played the first 2.5 seasons in Minnesota, having a strong rookie campaign while starting in all 32 games that season. Since then, her playing time and production has dropped off, and that resulted in her being traded to Dallas at the deadline in 2025 as part of a deal that sent DiJonai Carrington to the Lynx. In 40 games with Minnesota and Dallas last summer, Miller averaged 4.0 PPG, 1.3 RPG, and 0.8 APG over 10.9 MPG, shooting 40.3 percent from the field and 33.3 percent from three.

Miller has had an up-and-down start to her career, mainly due to injuries early on pushing her down the depth chart. Now in Connecticut, the 25-year-old will have the opportunity to get a good chunk of playing time and ultimately showcase why she was drafted second overall out of Maryland three years ago.

Marshall saw limited playing time during her rookie campaign with Connecticut in 2025, appearing in 15 games after being drafted out of USC in the second round in the 2025 WNBA Draft. Marshall came off the bench in all 15 of her appearances, playing in just 6.0 MPG while averaging 1.7 PPG, 1.7 RPG and 0.3 APG while shooting 34.6 percent from the field.

At 22 years old, Marshall still has some developing to do but a fresh start in Dallas could allow for her to showcase to the Wings why she is worthy of a roster spot.
