Aerial Powers to Sign One-Year Deal with the Dream

Aerial Powers is expected to sign a one-year deal with the Atlanta Dream, as first reported by Khristina Williams of Girls Talk Sports TV

Powers could be a player in “prove-it mode” this season after having a disappointing conclusion to three-year tenure with the Minnesota Lynx in 2023. Not seeing much time on the court last summer, Powers averaged career-low marks of 5.2 points per game (PPG), 1.8 rebounds per game (RPG), and 0.8 assists per game (APG) over 9.8 minutes in 20 games.

Over her eight-year career leading up to the 2024 campaign, Powers has averaged 10.7 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 1.6 APG, and 0.8 steals per game over 173 games. At the age of 30, Powers could still be a productive bench player who can boost a team offensively while even stepping into the starting lineup when needed.

Powers, a WNBA champion with the Washington Mystics in 2019, joins a team on the rise in Atlanta. The Dream underwent a top-down overhaul of the organization after a disappointing 2021 season, and have since gotten back to the playoffs, losing to Dallas in the first round last year. Powers figures to add some offensive punch at the wing for a Dream team that finished 9th in Offensive Rating in 2023, per WNBA.com.
