Courtney Williams to Sign with Minnesota

Courtney Williams is expected to sign with the Minnesota Lynx, as first reported by Khristina Williams of Girls Talk Sports TV.

Williams had a career year in 2023, after signing a one-year deal with Chicago last offseason. One of the most versatile guards in the W, she stepped into a facilitating role with the Sky and recorded the first two triple-doubles of her career. Williams averaged 10.4 points, 6.3 assists (fourth in the WNBA), 6.0 rebounds, and 1.0 steals as Chicago’s floor general, starting every game. The mid-range specialist extended her range in 2023, connecting on 44.3 percent of her 2.7 three-pointers per game.

Now, Williams looks to build off her strong year in Skytown by helping bolster a Lynx squad that went 19-21 in 2023 and lost to Connecticut in the first round of the playoffs. Minnesota has been in the market for a point guard for the last couple seasons, and recently traded for Natisha Hiedeman. Williams and Hiedeman will bring lots of shot creation and scoring punch to Minnesota’s backcourt, though the defensive side of the ball could be a trickier equation to solve.
