Layshia Clarendon Expected to Re-Sign with Sparks

Layshia Clarendon is expected to return to the Los Angeles Sparks on a two-year deal, sources confirm to Winsidr’s own Rachel Galligan.

The Sparks were 14-10 with Clarendon in the lineup, where they averaged 11.1 points per game (PPG) and 3.4 assists per game (APG), while shooting a career-best 45.7 percent from the three across 24 games.

Clarendon is a valuable locker room presence and can orchestrate an offense when called upon. The 2017 All-Star and recipient of the WNBA Community Assist award (August 2021) has been a leader on and off the court since being selected no. 9 overall back in the 2013 WNBA Draft. Clarendon will continue to be the Sparks’ floor general, stabilizing the position for head coach Curt Miller. For her career, the 32-year-old has averaged 7.9 PPG, 3.3 APG, on 43.2 percent shooting overall.
