Rachel Banham is expected to sign with the Connecticut Sun, as first reported by Jackie Powell of The Next Hoops.
Banham, 30, comes over from the Lynx having contributed off their bench as a solid sharp shooter and occasional microwave scorer. Drafted in 2016 by the Connecticut Sun, Banham entered the league as a low-minute contributor, eventually hitting her stride as a bench general towards the end of her career with the Sun and after being traded to the Lynx in 2020. She went back and forth again to Minnesota, signing multiple contracts with them and landing a permanent spot with the club in 2023 where she played out the entire season.
Last season, Banham averaged 5.5 points per game (PPG) on 40.2 percent shooting from three point range and 37 percent shooting from the field overall. She also averaged 1.7 assists per game (APG) and one rebound per game (RPG) in 13.6 minutes played per game (MPG) and 32 games played overall with Minnesota. For her career, Banham has averaged 5.2 PPG, 1.5 APG, 1.1 RPG in 13.4 MPG. She brings some much coveted three point shooting and bench depth to a Sun team that has also managed to shore up on their guard depth in other ways, having traded for Tiffany Mitchell on Wednesday.
