2021 WNBA Draft Date Set

The 2021 WNBA Draft date is scheduled for April 15th but could be subject to change, sources have told Winsidr’s Rachel Galligan.

Due to the uncertainty caused by COVID-19 and the possible effect it may have on the NCAA Tournament, the date is not set in stone. 

Earlier this season, the NCAA announced an extra year of eligibility for seniors, which will likely cause the WNBA draft pool to be much different than teams and fans had previously anticipated. 

The WNBA is entering its 25th season. For the second straight year, the New York Liberty own the number one pick in the draft. Next up are the Dallas Wings at number two overall, followed by the Atlanta Dream, selecting third. The Indiana Fever round out the lottery with the fourth overall pick. The Wings hold three picks in the first round (#s – 2,5, and 7). Meanwhile, the Washington Mystics and Connecticut Sun, who played in the 2019 WNBA Finals, do not own any first round picks after trading them away this past season.
